Weekly Writing Challenges: My story, My history

Your challenge this week? Write about a current event from your own unique, subjective perspective. Show us how history is something we are part of, not some external event taking place in a palace, office, or war zone far away. http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/10/14/writing-challenge-history/

First and foremost, I’m not going to write about the current situation in my country. Obviously, whatever is happening right now in this country will be written down and publish in our future generation, history/ social studies textbooks.

I am more interested in making my own history.

A history that I’m proud of because it’s my own

A history that I can be proud of and that I can share with my future children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren so that they can learnt one or two things about life from my own experience

As a child, I use to listen to my grandmama stories about her kampung days, her teenage years and how she came to Singapore to start a new life. Even till today, she still shares with me that story of hers and I can never get bored listening to it.

As for my own …

The first few chapters of my OWN history had been completed and currently I’m starting a new one. And it will be known as “My Working Life”. Let me give you a sneak peek about what this chapter is all about.
  • I’ve taken several part-time jobs during my teenage years and how it’s like to struggle a job and school at the same time
  • Squeezing in the train during peak hour to get to work (then again it doesn’t make a different when it comes to non-peak hours
  • My internship days
  • Gotten a job straight away after I graduated from polytechnic and how I hated the job
  • My first ever “real” job >> Working in a hospital environment – The staff, work load etc
  • “Work till you die” – A phrase fit for Singaporeans. What does it mean and are we living up to that phrase?
  • Why most of the time my job scope does not relate to my diploma?
  • Etc ...

Ouhhhhhhhhhh and if you're wondering, I'm keeping my OWN history in my memory storage. If happens, I get bored and I want to relive the past alone or with friends and families, I shall just download it from that storage.

More chapters are in the making but you and I have to wait to find out. Let it open on it's own, until then we shall live in the now.

To my earthlings out there, continue creating your OWN history and have fun doing it.

Till we meet again, earthlings. xoxo :D !!!
