Life Saver. YES !

Today's blog post schedule is about my thoughts on the items I purchased in my previous post here. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I'm unable to upload pictures of items into my computer due to a small part of the memory card came off unexpectedly. I was obviously distraught about it because that card contains pictures for my upcoming blog posts. The best part of all, I don't even have a spare memory card to use. But lucky me, prior to this incident, I did store most of my photos in my external hard disk. Phew ! Anyhow, life still has to go on and I need to update my blog per usual.

In this post, I'll be talking about my all time favourite product. I have been using this for nearly two months now. I sometimes wonder why I did not come across this product earlier. It is called the Schmidt's Lavender+Sage Deodorant.

Why this has been my life saver ?

Well, fellow readers out there, I have a body odour (BO) and suffers from excessive sweating (ES) aka hyperhidrosis. Yes, I do. I'm not sure if my people smelled my odour because none of my friends ever told me if I have one. Or maybe, they do, but was afraid to tell me. My mom and brother notice it and they told me. The minute they told me, I freak out. I was afraid that people surrounding would be able to smell me. I began to pile up on my deodorant, but none work out for me. Then, I moved over to antiperspirant which did little help. Throughout my secondary school and poly days, I was living in fear. I was too afraid to raise my arms high. Scared that people will smell me. I stay away from coloured clothes to prevent any sweat patch.

We all know that BO is not caused by sweat. Sweat is odorless. However, sweat found in the underarm or the genitalia area when mixed with bacteria can produce an unpleasant smell.

I tried countless of deodorant and antiperspirant until I came across DriClor. Driclor, at that moment was my life saver. It is a very strong antiperspirant. It contains aluminium chloride hexahydrate as an active ingredient and alcohol. This particular substances block out the apocrine sweat gland (a type of gland found on underarms and certain parts of the body) from secreting compounds that can cause bacteria build up in unwanted areas. Using Driclor was such a hassle for me because I have to follow the instructions found in the box carefully or risk getting unwanted reaction. However, knowing myself, I don't follow instruction 100% of the time. When the instruction states not to use the product after shaving, I go ahead and use it. At first, it was okay until one day my armpit broke out into severe rashes. Ugly rashes and peeling skin were what I get for not following instruction.

Usually, if you notice a bad rash from trying out products, you will stop right away but I did not ! (Naughty me eh !) I continued using because, like I said I have yet to find anything like DriClor. Though my armpit itch like crazy, I persevere it. Of course, I did apply over the counter itch medication to reduce the rash a little bit. I was ignorant and refuse to go see a doctor. Until, one fine day, my mom and my aunt notice it. They force me to see a skin specialist.

After seeing the skin specialist, he only gives me medication to stop the rashes. But did not give me anything to curb my problem. Throughout the time, I was only using unscented body products to make sure not aggravate the situation any further. I kept using tissue to wipe off my sweat.

My search on finding THE deo/antiperspirant did not stop there. I search and search for the best product. I also search and tried DIY antiperspirant but it only works for an hour or two. Then one fine day, I stumble upon this website called Living Naturally Co. selling all natural products. I scrolled through the website and found out that they sells deodorants made from natural ingredients. I was intrigued by it. Initially, I was skeptical about it seeing has I tried doing a DIY deo before and did not work for me, but my gut instincts told me to give it a try.

I bought the Lavender + Sage scented Deo because from my past research it shows that lavender and sage have properties that can help fight bacteria and reduce perspiration (Two things I need in my life !)  After receiving item, I wait for the following month to try as I'm still in the midst of clearing up my rashes.

This deodorant comes in a little pot (as seen in the picture above). You will need to use the spatula (given) to scoop the product out and use your clean hands to apply product to the specific area.The smell of lavender and sage .... arhhhhhhhhhhhh so lovely ! It was quite a messy process at first, but sooner or later you'll get use to it. The texture of the product is waxy-like but, turn buttery when applied to my underarm. But I do wish that they come in a proper deodorant bottle though (It will make like so much easier !)

First day of trying new product, always excites me. I was praying very hard that this will help to curb my problem. After one day of using, I was impressed. I kept smelling myself during work just to check if I stinks or not, but to my surprise, NOPE ! I started to stink up only after work (about 6pm). As to whether I sweat or not, I still do (every human in this planet does !), I saw a reduction of sweat in my underarm. OF COURSE, I WAS STOKED ! Ever since then, I have been using this product. I AM LITERRALY OBSESSED ! I'll definitely stock up on this bad boy and also try their other scented deodorants. Note that this product contains, baking soda. It might cause an allergic reaction to some therefore, please do a patch test before using it.

Although, this product did not wipe out my BO, neither did it help to stop my underarm sweat entirely. It does, however, reduces both BO and sweat to the minimal ! Honestly, it was quite embarrassing for me to share such information about my life, but I feel like the need to because I know that there are others who suffers the same problem like me and they too have been searching in and out for products to help curb the situation. To those people who suffers the same problem, do check give this a try. It may help you somehow and the best part, it is made up of mostly natural ingredients that is good for our body.
