It's All About the Brows
Nothing frames a face quite like a beautiful perfectly shaped eyebrow. Today, I will like to share with you how I normally do my brows and the grooming process.
1. Grooming:
The most essential step for the perfect brow. You can either go threading / waxing or plucking using the old favourite tool, tweezers. I personally hate threading. The first time I went to thread my eyebrows (which is also the first time I have ever done anything to my eyebrows!), my experience was unpleasant, not because of the service, but it was more of the pain I felt throughout the procedure. My friend was the one who suggested threading to me, and so being the curious bug I am, I went to try it out. From what I heard, threading does not hurt. Even if it is, it felt like an ant bite. So I was gamed and brought my friend along for my first ever threading session. Boy,oh boy, the pain was unbearable! I kept screaming throughout the whole procedure (my friend has a footage of me screaming like a baby!) and I think I might have scared off the person who did my brows. I'm sorry that I was not behaving well, but the pain is just too much. From that experience, I think that will be my last threading session.
I have never tried waxing my brows before so I can't give comments on it. But if given a chance, I would want to try it out. At the end, I choose plucking as my option to groom my brows. Sometimes, I would do it on my own, but usually, I would pop by to my nearest beauty parlour to get it pluck. Compared to threading, this hurts, too but not as much. Phew!
Normally, if I go to the parlor, the beauty assistant (BA) would ask me a few questions like, if I wanted to change up my eyebrow shape or just make the brows neat. Usually, I will like to have them neatly. Once the questionnaire is done, she would then proceed to do my brows. First up is plucking then followed by shaving. She would use a razor blade to shave the area that is hard to pluck and by doing that also, helps to clean the eyebrow area. Lastly, she would trim the brows to make them all of the same height. During the session, she would stop every now and then to show me how my brows looks like. I think that step is key so that I don't have to worry if she has gone overboard with my eyebrows.
Shape:
For me, I like to keep the natural shape of my eyebrows. Shaping the eyebrows can really affect the way it frames your face. Unless if you have bad eyebrows, then go ahead and shape it differently.
Colour:
Brown, black grey, brown black, grey black etc. Too many shades to choose for just a pair of eyebrows! Honestly, I don't go by the rule, "Go a few shades lighter if you have darker hair and vice versa for light hair girls." I go with what suits best for me. Personally, I prefer my brow products to have gray/ashy/neutral undertone.
Brow Product:
There are countless of brow products out there from pencils to pomade. Brow products are like mascara. You either love it or hate it. Currently, I'm using the ELF Instant Lift Eyebrow Pencil. For me, this gets the job done. As I am constantly in a rush, pencils are great for me. Easy, simple and fast. I do have a brow gel and pomade however, I save those for when I'm not rushing and special occasion. Bearing in mind that when using a pencil, you got to be careful with application. If not done properly, it can look harsh, so apply light handedly.
Keep them brows in place (optional):
This is the final and not a must to follow step. Using clear brow gels to keep hairs up.
I take my brows pretty seriously. I would groom my brows every once a week sometimes, once in two weeks and this is done only on weekends because during weekdays. Like I mentioned earlier on, at times I would groom my brows my own. I would follow the same step as what the BA did to my brows. Of course, the result is not as good as when you have someone professional helping you do it. But this thing happened only if I'm to lazy or busy to head over to the parlor.
So yeah, that's how I groom and do my brows. Happy weekend!
xoxo, W:)
