When this came out, everyone was raving how good it was. I, of course, did not jump into the bandwagon until now. I much prefer my lipsticks to have a matte or satin finishes. Once in a while, I like to add in a bit of gloss to finish off my makeup. When I was a growing up, I remember my mom will always choose lip gloss or lipstick that has a high shine finish for me as she felt it is more appropriate for my age. But as I age, I tend to go for satin finishes and then, slowly to matte lipsticks.
I don't particularly hate lip glosses, I just don't like how sticky it can get, so that's why I stay away from such finishes. However, times have changed, and my preferences too. What a better way to start of my experiment with lip glosses with none other than the Butter Glosses from NYX.
NYX Butter Gloss comes in a huge selection of shades, 34 to be exact! From your neutrals to the darks and to some quirky shades. You name it, they have it. I only got 3 out of the 34. From left to right: BLG07 Tiramisu, BLG20 Red Velvet and BLG22 Devil's Food Cake.
The texture of these glosses, like the name suggests, is very soft and creamy. It glides easily onto the lips. One swipe, and the colour intensity is very opaque. These aren't the most lightweight glosses in the market. I don't have issues with that, but I much prefer not to feel anything on the lips. There is a bit of tackiness to this lip glosses which I think helps with the longevity of the product on the lips. I can wear this up to 4 hours and not worry if it has migrated to my chin or to the side of my mouth. A side note, these glosses have a strong vanilla-ish, cake-like smell. Some of you might find that the scent is overpowering, but I don't mind it at all. I must say it smells better than other lipglosses.
