If I we're put in captive and my kidnapper ask me to choose the place that he/she wants to put me, I would choose to be stranded on an island
Why an island and not be placed in an unknown forest or inside a strange building?
As a captive with a choice, I would first think about food and drink. Out of the 3 options, the forest and an island will surely have food and drink. However, in unknown forest, I may not know what type of food and drink is suitable for me because from background knowledge, certain food that looks edible can be poisonous! UNKNOWN forest, also means that the forest has not been explore yet. No discovery. Nothing. It's enough for me that I'd had been put under captive, placing me there to fight the wilderness, NOPE! (unless, i have a buddy with me, then i wouldn't mind being out in that unknown forest).
In an island, definitely surrounding it would be water. (Regardless whether it is saltwater or fresh water, it's still water! I can drink it! I would be even nicer if it's freshwater!). Food wise in an island, since there is water, then there will be fishes! can survive with fish!
Second reason why I chose an island because there will be white sand, waves, stars, sunset and sunrise! A nice view. If in the forest all i can see are tall trees, grass and wild animals!
An island will have trees, I can make a fire out of it and the smoke will rise up so that people out there will notice the SOS sign! In the forest, I can't make a campfire because if I were to do that then the whole forest including me will burn! And that is my third reason.
I can come out with 101 reasons as to why I would chose an island. However, in real life scenario, no such choices are given to me. What ever my kidnapper's choice, I have to go with it. I just have to find ways to overcome it. In that moment, I can only think about surviving! Just like in real life, somethings that happen is not by choice but as an individual, a change is what a person can do to alter destiny or fate.
That's how SURVIVORS are born. And i sought to be one. Well, in fact, we all have to in these cruel world!
