Finally, I got my hands on these Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks by Kate Moss. I have the shade 03 from the normal range and 107 from the matte collection. They have tons of shade selection to choose from, but I decided to just get two as the others are either sold out or does not compliment my skin tone
Anyhoo... back to the lipsticks. If you have been a long time reader of this blog, you may know that, besides searching for the perfect everyday shade, my other makeup quest is to find the perfect nude. In the Kate Moss range, they have a good selection of nude shades to choose from. Of course, I had to swatch every single colours, but 03 caught my eye. On my skin, it looks like it could be the nude that I'm looking for. I would described 03 as a nude-y pink with a slight hint of brown undertone. When I tried it on my lips, it turns out to be a bit paler than I expected. Obviously, it washes out my complexion and I was bit turn off by it, but after several attempt to make it work, I realised that I have to layer it with a lip liner, particular, one or two shades darker than the lip colour itself. This definitely change my thoughts on the lipstick. Texture wise, this is very creamy and the colour payoff is very opaque.
Of course, I had to get one bold colour. I was looking for shade 111 (the other famous red in the Kate Moss range) but they were sold out. But thankfully, 107 was not. So I pick it up and boy, this shade is perfection in a tube! I love the colour on me. I would say 107 is a berry shade with cool purple undertone. Though it states matte, this is not at all. It definitely falls on the creamy side of the formulation spectrum. Unlike 03, this is a very difficult shade to apply. Applying it straight from the bullet is a no no! You have to use a lip brush to get that precise application, and of course with many bold lipstick, the key is to use a lip liner which sadly, I do not have any in my stash. Also, is it just me or I find that there is a build up or some sort of grainy texture forming on the lips and I had to use a lip brush to smooth it? Nonetheless, this shade of colour, will flatter a lot of skin tones.
I'm quite happy that I got 2 of them from her range. If you have tried either of these shades or other colours from the range, leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
