Skincare Arsenal
As the year coming to an end, I will like to share with you my skincare routine and the products I used. My routine approach is pretty simple and minimal. Though, I love watching other people skincare routine and admire the luxurious multi-products they used, I prefer mine to be less of a hassle and does not break the bank. If you read my previous post, I have an oily skin. Sensitive at times, minor hormonal breakout and visible pores. I try to find products with simple ingredient list - less alcohol content, paraben and sulphate free (if possible).
Let's get on to it...
I started off with washing my face using The Body Shop Aloe Calming Foaming Wash. I got this on a whim because the cleanser I was using at that moment was not doing justice to my face. I know most skincare experts will shake their head vehemently due to the fact that this is a FOAMING. product. We all know FOAMING derives from Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, a bad chemical for your delicate face. It strips off the natural oils in your face and causing more oil production. I won't say that this is a great cleanser but it definitely gets the job done for me personally. Prolly after I used this up, I might try an oil based cleanser or a non-foaming cleanser. Any recommendation?
Next I will use my Clinique's Dramatically Different Moistuirising Gel. This is a simple and lightweight moisturiser that hydrates the skin. It work as a great for day time. If you're like me and have no time to spare in the morning, then this will be the best option. It absorbs quickly onto the skin. However, for those who are looking for a powerful moisturiser that targets specific areas of concern, then look away as this lacks in certain properties.
If I happened to have a breakout, I will then apply The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil. I have written a post on this previously. Check that out here. Really a true saviour. Everyone needs this in their life. But be patient with it as it takes time to do it's duty.
For scrubbing the grimes and dirt on my face, I would use the UV Aqua White Renewal Gel. It contains Retinol-A that exfoliates the skin. I'm not a fan of the normal, beaded textured scrub as it hurts like hell. I prefer this gel-like consistency and you can really feel the smoothness of your face after each scrub. Besides, Retinol-A, it has some brightening properties that gives the face a boost of radiance as well as lightening unwanted pigmentation.
Pampering routine for me is basically, putting on a mask and catching up on youtube videos or shows. Previously, I'm obsessed with sheet masks however, after I discovered it contains bad ingredients, I switch to a natural based face masks. Currently, I'm into Now Food Solution European Clay Powder. I've read a lot about clay and it's benefits especially for oily skin people like me. I'm in the midst of trying this out. Full deets on this coming your way so stay tuned!
Never ever in my life, I would have a specific night time moisturiser. I thought I could get away with the same moisturiser for day and night. I was wrong! Like the clay mask, I read up on the benefits of rose hip seed oil. I was amazed at how this oil does wonders to the face and the many celebrities that swear by this. Of course I had to try it for myself. I went ahead and bought Life Flo Health, Pure Rose Hip Seed Oil. Since then I never regretted my purchase. I will do a full post on this so keep look out on that too!
So yeahhhh, 6 items in my skincare arsenal. It might seem excessive to some (I've watched people used more) but it does produce results (minus the cleanser, time to change it). Afterall, to each it's own face. Whatever works for you might not work for me. You just have to do a hell lot of trial and error.
What is your skincare arsenal?
See you in my next post!
W:)
