My First Ever Tarte

I have been searching high and low for my very first high end foundation. I wanted something that covers well and still look like my own skin. I looked through many brands but I managed to settle with Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation. I have no reason as to why I chose the foundation over the others. All I know is that I kept going back and forth to the Tarte section at Sephora so I thought I had to get it. From what I looked up on the net, Tarte is one of the few brands out there, that is cruelty-free and also eco-friendly. I'm up for anything that does not hurt / harm mother nature or animals.

I asked one of the Sephora staff to help me picked out the right shade for me. She brought out a lot of shades for me to try on but in the end, we settle with Tan Honey.

This foundation is creamy in texture, however at times, it felt like a lightweight mousse (maybe it's just me). The coverage of it is absolutely on point. I noticed that whenever I use this, I tend to use less concealer. I would say it is a medium to full coverage type of foundation. But then it all depends on the amount of product you squeeze out and the application of it afterwards. For me personally, a pea size of it, goes a long way. I still like to see my own skin showing despite having foundation on top of it.

Since the coverage can be little too much for every day wear, I will only apply it to the center of my face (where all the greasy-ness happens) and buff the product out. I would use either a damp makeup sponge or if I'm in a rush, I just use my fingers to work the product.

As all other matte foundation, this is a good one for oily skin girls (or boys). It helps to keep your shine at bay due to the Amazonian clay being added to the ingredient. I have been using this foundation for nearly 2 weeks and so far, I don't have any major breakouts except those hormonal ones.

I can't say that this is my top foundation as of now. There are tons and tons of foundation out there for me to try. I also can't compare much with other foundations as I'm only starting to venture out in this category. Before this, I have only been using the L'oreal True Match and Bourjois Healthy Mix foundations, both of which was wrongly matched for my skin tone (I managed to mix both to get right shade, ever so slightly).  But ever since, I bought my very first high end make up product, I was not disappointed at all and it didn't hurt to break the bank.

What are your thoughts about this foundation ? And also, do you prefer sheer, medium or full coverage foundation ? Do leave a comment below. If you have any recommendations for me to try, please leave it in the comment section. I will love to try new things !

See you in the next post. Have a great Sunday ahead !

Cheers, xoxo :)
