Au Naturel Mask

Nowadays, my skin is a little sensitive to certain ingredients found in some skincare products. So I'm constantly on the lookout for organic/natural products that are affordable. While doing my research, I came across the Handmade Heroes website. Never have I heard about this nor I heard people talking about it. I was intrigued by it. Many natural/organic skin care products can be expensive due to the fact that they use raw products, but surprisingly, this was well within my budget and I had to try it!

I was on the lookout for a new face mask to try. Before this, I used the normal face sheet masks from Korean beauty brands, however, these sheet masks contain ingredients that can irritate my skin. Handmade Heroes have 3 types of masks for different skin needs. I had to choose the one that suits my current skin condition.

I ended up getting the "Beauty Warrior Purifying Clay Mask (French Green Clay)". On the website, it stated that this mask helps to rejuvenate dull looking skin. It also removes impurities and helps tighten the pores. (Oh yes, I need that!). Recently, my skin was not looking at its best. I had small breakouts here and there (especially below the cheek area). Small blemishes and redness came crashing all over my face. Of course, I wasn't please with it. I blame the hormones for this and partly my diet as well.

Back to the face mask....

Normally, when you buy clay mask, it's already in a thick mixture, however, this comes in a powdered form. Weird, eh? Anyway, to get the desired mixture, take a spoonful of the green powder (note: it comes with a cute little spatula) and mix it with water to get the consistency you want. Bearing in mind, a spoonful of this goodness is enough for the whole face. Usually, I like my mixture to have a thick and gloopy consistency. This means I add less water. After mixing the concoction, I would then massage it on my face and leave it for 5 minutes as recommended.

Throughout the drying process, my face feels very tingling, almost like a burning sensation. I think it's because of the organic ginger and turmeric root found in the ingredient mix. Strangely enough, I find that it has a cooling effect as well. When I checked the ingredient list, it was the peppermint oil that causes that effect.

At first, I find the tingling and cooling sensation weird and I had to remove the mask immediately. However, I gave it a second shot and I came to like it. The sensation that I felt first time was no longer an issue for me. Now, I'm addicted to it. My skin feels soft and rejuvenate after every use. I would apply this every Sunday night before I go to bed. This helps to prepare my skin for the coming Monday. Also, this mask contains micro-exfoliant properties which I didn't realised at first, until I start washing the mask off my face.

Not to mentioned also, this is a vegan and cruelty free product. For those of you who are particular about products being free of harmful chemicals or tested on animals, then you might want to check this brand out. The best part, it is a Singapore-based brand. It cost $22.90 and I got directly from the website itself.

I hope to try more from them in the future! Oh, if you have tried their products before, do let me know your thoughts in the comment section below!

See you in my next post x!
